Parenting

Worried about whether or not you’re using effective parenting skills?

Has the fun gone out of parenting for you?

Need help getting your child to do what you need them to do?

Raising children can be the most rewarding job one can have. It can also be most frustrating, demanding and heart wrenching. No one provides us with clear guidelines about the right way to parent. We either do what our parents did, or try to do the exact opposite. Learning effective parenting skills is valuable for every parent because it can help you do the best job possible in raising your children.  It can improve your confidence in your ability to parent, and therefore help you own a sense of inner peace. Whether you are a single parent or share the responsibilities, learning effective parenting skills can be learned in counseling to create more harmony in the home.

Here are some of the Tools I am able to help you learn:

  • Setting appropriate limits and boundaries
  • Building your child’s confidence and self worth
  • Time management for kids
  • What's normal and what's not
  • How to offer choices instead of giving orders

Despite the best intentions, parents frequently engage in disciplinary tactics that inadvertently promote their child's negative behavior. Yelling, nagging, warning, and even loving explanations provide children with love and attention at the wrong time.  If you would like more information on becoming a more effective parent and want parenting to become fun again, please call me at (858) 735-1139.  I know I can help.
